DESCRIPTION:A review of the increasing popularity of international farmlan
 d as an asset class by major global financial institutions\, with a discus
 sion about the risks and returns in different regions and production syste
 ms.\n\nCarl Atkin is Co-founder of KinnAgri Limited\, an international agr
 ibusiness management and consulting firm.  Carl's business consultancy int
 erests have latterly extended across agricultural supply chains and farmin
 g and food businesses with a focus on the CEEC/FSU region. He has worked w
 ith clients across the whole agribusiness value chain including life scien
 ce companies and food processors as well as numerous private and corporate
  farming businesses. \nIn the agri-investment arena he has consultancy exp
 erience across the UK\, Europe\, Middle East\, Former Soviet Union and Afr
 ica including studies on investment opportunities and working on implement
 ation strategies with local overseas partners.  He has also written and sp
 oken about the challenges and opportunities of investing in land markets i
 n transition\, as well as speaking more generally at conferences in the EU
 \, MENA Region and North America on Food Security and Agri-Investment tren
 ds. \n\nCarl is also Deputy Editor of the International Journal of Agricul
 tural Management (jointly with John Gardner\, Massey University\, New Zeal
 and) as well as being a member of the Institute of Agricultural Management
 \, the International Farm Management Association\, the Agricultural Econom
 ics Society and the Agricultural Law Association.\n\nCarl has a first clas
 s Honours Degree in Agriculture and Farm Business Management from Newcastl
 e University (2000)\, a Postgraduate degree in Business Administration (MB
 A) (2007) and has also attended the Agribusiness Leadership and Developmen
 t Seminar at Harvard Business School.\n
