DESCRIPTION:*Abstract*\n\nIn the first part of my talk I will
present results from a set of high resolution cosm
ological simulations focusing on the formation of
the first galaxies in the Universe. I will discuss
the impact of the baryons on the hosting dark mat
ter haloes as well as the physical processes that
drive the evolution of these galaxies. In the seco
nd part of my talk I will introduce a methodology
to extract effective models from such simulations
to break the degeneracy of sub-grid physical model
 s in cosmological simulations.
