DESCRIPTION:Manjusha Thorpe\, a PhD student at Cambridge University’s Ce
 ntre for Technology Management and a member of the Manufacturing Industry 
 Education Research Group (MIERG)\, is going to share her research and thou
 ghts about the scale up of innovative process technologies.\n\nManjusha st
 udied both chemical engineering and Japanese as an undergraduate and befor
 e joining the IfM\, she worked in industry for 14 years in Australia\, Jap
 an\, Indonesia and Singapore. One of Manjusha's more recent achievements w
 as successfully starting up and managing the Singapore operation of a glob
 al consulting company dedicated to benchmarking the competitiveness of cap
 ital projects executed by the oil\, gas\, chemical\, pharmaceutical and mi
 ning industries. Manjusha’s work focuses on scale up\, which is an integ
 ral component of the evolution of the process industry and a component tha
 t is fraught with difficulties. Her work identifies the main challenges th
 at are encountered during scale up and ways in which these are overcome\, 
 particularly from a capabilities perspective.
