DESCRIPTION:There is mounting evidence that mechanical radio-mode AGN feed
back is important in galaxy evolution\, and in order to quantify this feed
back\, detailed models of radio lobe evolution are required. Self-similar
analytic models exist for large FRII radio sources but the evolution of t
he young precursor radio sources is not yet fully understood. \n\nThis ta
lk will present a dynamical and radiative model for young source evolution
(sub-kpc scales) as an extension to existing self-similar models\, and di
scuss the full model in the context of a sample of nearly 100 radio-loud s
ources. Robust knowledge of the host galaxy properties of this sample all
ow certain evolutionary tracks to be observationally ruled out in a new me
thod of tracking radio source evolution.\n
