DESCRIPTION:A source of triggered entangled photon pairs is a vital commod
ity for\nquantum information applications based on quantum optics. The mos
t\ncommonly used source of entangled photon pairs currently\, parametric\n
down conversion\, produces a probabilistic numbers of photons pairs per\ne
xcitation cycle making them of limited use\, especially in quantum\ninform
ation schemes. We demonstrate on-demand emission of\npolarisation-entangle
d photon pairs from the biexciton cascade of a\nsingle InAs quantum dot em
 bedded in a GaAs/AlAs planar cavity\, the\nfirst semiconductor source of t
riggered entangled photon emission.\nResults presented show that ~70% of t
he photon pairs measured are\nentangled in the expected |HH>+|VV> basis.\n
