DESCRIPTION:Ever wondered… What does it take to have a paper p
ublished in a Nature journal? What are the factors
determining whether a paper is accepted or reject
ed? Who handles your paper and what sort of criter
ia do they apply? This talk aims to demystifying e
ditorial decisions and provide insight into the pe
er-review process. After a brief outline of the di
fferences between the various Nature titles\, I wi
ll describe how an editor reaches a first decision
on a manuscript\, how the subsequent external pee
r-review is handled\, and how a paper is eventuall
y published. The talk will hopefully help you as a
uthors in the preparation of your manuscript for s
ubmission to Nature journals\, and as reviewers in
clarifying how your valuable input enters the edi
torial decision. Questions more than welcome!
