DESCRIPTION:Ca3Co2O6 is a rare example of a material where ferromagnetic 1
D Ising spin chains are coupled through a much weaker antiferromagnetic ex
change on a triangular lattice.\n\nLow-temperature measurements of magneti
zation and specific heat\, and neutron scattering studies have been used t
o investigate the magnetic properties of this material.\n\nImmediately bel
ow TN\, Ca3Co2O6 is shown to order with a modulated partially disordered a
ntiferromagnetic structure. At lower temperature\, Ca3Co2O6 undergoes an u
 nusual slow magnetic order-order transition.\n
