DESCRIPTION:*Abstract:* Uncertainty quantification and its pro
pagation within a system is a major area of focus
for much of design research including process mode
ling and design optimisation. New methods of uncer
tainty quantification based on polynomials and rat
ional methods have arisen over the past decade tha
t can be easily applied to a host of problems. The
se methods have shown tremendous success in applic
ations ranging from aerodynamics\, and structural
engineering to the chemical sciences. These method
s involve approximating the system using technique
s of interpolation and quadratures\, and then prop
agating the error in inputs through the interpolat
ed approximation. This talk provides an overview o
f a few of these methods and a few aerospace appli
 cations.\n\n\n*About the speaker:* Pranay Seshadri
is a researcher at the Engineering Design Centre
working on topology optimisation\, computational f
luid dynamics and uncertainty quantification towar
ds robust turbomachinery design. He has an MS and
 BS in aerospace engineering.
