DESCRIPTION:We explain the relation between magnetic braids and their repr
 esentation by the action of the corresponding Hamiltonian system. We show 
 how this function captures certain topological properties of the braid and
  then go on to explore the role it has in the relaxation of magnetic braid
 s under resistive dynamics at high magnetic Reynolds numbers.\n
