DESCRIPTION:Instrumentation in the polar environment. The harsh Antarctic 
 environment imposes conditions on the instruments that can be used. The mo
 st southerly locations are inaccessible during the winter and the number o
 f aircraft flights are limited. BAS have designed instrumentation so that 
 literally anyone with the right training can service them. No specialist s
 cientific knowledge is needed.
