DESCRIPTION:In August 2010\, Liverpool and Bristol\, together with the Joh
n Innes Institute released sequence data covering ~95% of the wheat genome
. In the two years since this public release\, the sequences have been use
d by academic/industrial researchers to both understand the structure of t
he allohexaploid wheat genome and to develop new tools\, which can be used
to increase yield and profitability. In my talk I will discuss how the wh
eat genome might be changing under current selection pressures. In additio
n\, I will also discuss our ongoing work\, primarily directed at helping U
K wheat breeders to generate the next generation of wheat varieties.
