DESCRIPTION:Chromosome segregation in anaphase of mitosis is triggered by
a giant ubiquitin ligase called the Anaphase-Promoting Complex or cyclosom
e (APC). We are studying the biochemical mechanisms by which the APC binds
its substrates and modifies them processively with polyubiquitin chains.
Our recent work has focused on the mechanisms that inhibit APC activity wh
en defects in the mitotic spindle delay the onset of anaphase.
