DESCRIPTION:*Abstract:*\n\nIn the UK\, the building stock accounts for alm
ost 50% of the total annual energy consumption. If the UK is to meets its
targets to reduce emissions by 80% in 2050 then significant reduction in e
nergy use is needed.\n\nThe first step towards making reductions is unders
tanding how\, where and why energy is used\, in both domestic and non-dome
stic settings. Research is underway in universities internationally to ans
wer these questions\, using a variety of different approaches. This semina
r will discuss the different approaches to understanding energy consumptio
n in the building stock.\n\n*Speakers:*\n\n* Dr James Keirstead\, Research
Fellow\, Dept. of Civil & Env. Eng.\, Imperial College London\n* Dr Vicky
Cheng\, Research Associate\, Dept. of Architecture\, University of Cambri
 dge\n* Daniel Godoy-Shimizu\, PhD Candidate\, Dept. of Architecture\, Univ
ersity of Cambridge\n* Peter Armitage\, PhD Candidate\, Dept. of Architect
