DESCRIPTION:The cloud-storage model implies that a data owner loses contro
l over its data in several ways. After outsourcing its data to the cloud\,
the owner is bound to trust the cloud provider for confidentiality\, priv
acy\, integrity\, and availability. Cryptographic mechanisms can reduce su
ch trust by allowing the owner to protect its data and to verify some aspe
cts of remote computation on the data. This presentation discusses a numbe
r of mechanisms for securing data stored in the cloud and for protecting c
omputations running in the cloud.\nParticular topics include data encrypti
on and key management\, integrity and consistency of untrusted services\,
 and replication for availability.
