DESCRIPTION:In this talk I will give a brief overview of the applications 
 of THz technology including airport security\, pharmaceutical products and
  semiconductor quality control followed by a closer look at how we can use
  THz pulses as a tool to aid clinicians in identifying cancerous tissue  f
 or removal during surgery. We will look at the work done to characterise t
 he behaviour of THz pulses with biological materials and how contrasts can
  be seen between normal and cancerous tissue. The talk will end with a loo
 k at a new medical probe which has been developed for use in surgery on br
 east cancer patients and an outline and discussion of future research poss
 ibilities.\n
