DESCRIPTION:Freiman's theorem describes the structure of sets
of integers having small doubling which enjoys num
erous applications in additive combinatorics. Whi
le the result is qualitatively comprehensive\, a t
ruer picture is suggested by the Polynomial Freima
n-Ruzsa conjecture\, and in this talk we shall dis
cuss how a remarkable new technique of Croot and S
isask can be used in conjunction with a trick of L
opez and Ross to provide much clearer quantitative
information. We shall focus on the model finite f
ield setting where there are few prerequisites and
the details are the cleanest. \n\n
