DESCRIPTION:LCA recently revised its open source use policy to make it fas
 ter and easier for Microsoft to operate in a mixed source world\, and do s
 o intelligently.  To help you understand how the policy works in practice 
 and why it works the way it does\, please join visiting open source expert
  Cliff Allen to hear about the Open Source Policy and answer your question
 s about pain points and reasoning behind the policy.  Before Cliff joined 
 the Microsoft Open Source Legal Team\, he was at  Sun Microsystems for ten
  years\, where he received Sun’s Open Source Expert Award and was a thou
 ght leader on open source legal issues.  At Sun\, he created the legal inf
 rastructure for Java.net\, OpenOffice\, NetBeans\, GlassFish and OpenSPARC
 . He advised senior management on open source license models\, community s
 tructure and use polices.  His extensive pro-open source background and ex
 pertise should help you frame and understand Microsoft’s approach to ope
 n source which enables the use of open source while protecting Microsoft
 ’s IP. \n\nThis review should be attended by all researchers\, and espec
 ially those leading research projects\, to help you spot risks and resolve
