 search/networks/affective-encounters/ roundtable discussion\, three direct
 ors — Corinne Jaber\, Atri Banerjee\, and Andrew Quick — will reflect 
 on their methods for bringing theatregoers into and out of states of psych
 ological unease. \n\nTalking first about their experiences directing the u
 nsettling and confrontational aspects of Shakespeare’s works\, the three
  theatremakers will turn to several of their other productions and then to
  a more general discussion of the properties of dramatic form which most e
 ngage\, excite\, upset\, and disconcert us all. \n\nThe discussion between
  the three will then open up to an audience Q&A.\n\nAll welcome.\n\n*More 
 about the directors:*\n\n*Corinne Jaber* is an internationally active dram
 atist who trained under Monika Pagneux and Philip Gaulier in Paris. She pe
 rformed in Peter Brook’s _Mahabharata_ and in Irina Brook’s _Beast on 
 the Moon_\, and has recently returned to the _Mahabharata_ via Karthika Na
 ir’s _Until the Lions_: Corinne’s theatrical adaptation of this piece 
 is currently in development.\n\nCorinne has worked extensively as a direct
 or and as a director of Shakespeare: her production of _Love’s Labour’
 s Lost_ was staged in Kabul in 2005\, and in 2012 she worked with the same
  troupe on a Dari Persian production of _Comedy of Errors_ which was stage
 d at the Globe Theatre as part of that year’s ‘Globe to Globe Festival
 ’. This production was the subject of the BBC documentary _Shakespeare f
 rom Kabul_.\n\nCorinne’s other projects have included _Munich Medea_ (a 
 play which ‘burrowed into the abilities of theater and storytelling to m
 anipulate and obscure\, as well as illuminate and process\, harrowing trut
 hs’\; 2024)\, _In Transit_ (written when Corinne ‘found herself in Bei
 rut as the city trembled and pager devices exploded\; a moment of personal
  and political upheaval that demanded to be transformed into story’\; 20
 25) and\, with Amir Nizar Zuabi\, _Oh My Sweet Land_ (staged at the Young 
 Vic in 2014\, and which explored ‘the crisis in Syria through the storie
 s of its [then] 2 million refugees’.)\n\nAtri Banerjee is the Artistic L
 ead at the Gate Theatre\, where he has directed _Scenes for the Climate Er
 a_ and _This Room\, Now_. In 2023 he directed a touring production of _Jul
 ius Caesar_ for the RSC which utilised\, in each venue\, a different choru
 s drawn from the local community. Atri has also directed at the Almeida (_
 Look Back in Anger_) and at the Royal Exchange (productions included _Hobs
 on’s Choice_\, _The Glass Menagerie_ and Phoebe Eclair-Powell’s _SHED:
  Exploded View_.) His Bush Theatre production of _HARM_ was adapted for fi
 lm and screened by BBC 4 in 2021. \n\nAtri won Best Director at The Stage 
 Debut Awards in 2019\, and in 2022 was listed in The Stage 25 as ‘one to
  watch’. He studied English at Cambridge and on the MFA Theatre Directin
 g course at Birkbeck.\n\nAndrew Quick is the co-founder and co-artistic di
 rector for imitating the dog\, a company which fuses live performance with
  digital technology\, creating ‘spectacular\, innovative theatre\, as dr
 amatically forceful and thought-provoking as it is entertaining’ (Guardi
 an). Their current project\, an adaptation of _War of the Worlds_\, appear
 s at the Cambridge Arts Theatre between 29th April and 2nd May. Previous p
 roductions include a _Macbeth_ named by The Times and The Guardian as one 
 of the best live events to attend in 2023\, and a production of _Lear_ set
  in a psychiatric hospital and mounted at the Teatro de la Universidad Cat
 olica in Chile\, starring Hugo Medina. imitating the dog have worked on a 
 wide variety of adaptations (_Dracula_\; _Frankenstein_\; _Heart of Darkne
 ss_) and installations\; Andrew has published research on several other ex
 perimental companies including Forced Entertainment and the Wooster Group.
