DESCRIPTION:Considering the trade-offs between different anten
na approaches for cost-effective and high-performa
nce millimetre-wave systems\n\nJames will be prese
nting some of his work on millimetre-wave systems\
, a frequency range which has gathered a lot of in
terest over the past decade\, primarily due to the
availability of significantly more bandwidth comp
ared to the traditional highly congested microwave
bands. The lecture will focus on antenna design a
pproaches\, which often dictates the system archit
ecture\, whilst considering the trade-offs in comp
lexity\, performance\, size and cost of the overal
l system. Different design approaches for low-cost
and high-performance systems will be discussed\,
whilst considering new technology and manufacturin
 g advances.\n\nThe lecture will cover real-world e
xamples developed by Plextek where contrasting req
uirements throughout the system have led to novel
antenna array solutions\, whilst also considering
future millimetre-wave system developments to addr
ess future requirements in wireless communications
and sensing solutions.\n\nOpen to all. Book "at B
