DESCRIPTION:The problem of determining the extreme off-diagonal Ramsey num
 bers R(3\,k) has seen steady progress over the past century\, with many of
  the advances introducing important new tools to the field. In this talk\,
  I will survey this progress and discuss some recent developments on the p
 roblem. \nThis talk is based on joint work with Marcelo Campos\, Marcus Mi
 chelen\, and Julian Sahasrabudhe.
