DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, we address the optimization of the 
 product of the first Dirichlet eigenvalue of the L
 aplacian and the torsional rigidity under geometri
 c constraints such as fixed perimeter or fixed vol
 ume. The problem is studied both in the general cl
 ass of open sets and within the subclass of convex
  domains. We also present local results for relate
 d functionals involving the Dirichlet eigenvalue a
 nd powers of the torsional rigidity.\nThis is base
 d on joint work with Carlo Nitsch\, Cristina Tromb
 etti\, and Federico Villone.
