DESCRIPTION:In large N theories with a gravity dual\, huge operators shoul
d correspond to black holes in the bulk\, and the microscopic details of s
uch operators should then become irrelevant in the low-energy theory. To u
nderstand this mechanism in a simpler framework\, I will discuss the two-m
atrix Hoppe model in the strong coupling limit in the presence of huge ope
rators. Using analytics and Montecarlo simulations\, I will show how eigen
value densities are described by a universal parabola distribution\, and h
ow correlation functions of probes in these backgrounds are determined by
few parameters. Interestingly\, not all huge operators behave universally:
these models exhibit a sharp transition between universal and non-univers
 al regimes at strong coupling.
