 ingly severe climate and regulative pressures to achieve carbon neutrality
 \, current electrochemical energy storage systems are in need of a radical
  upgrade to meet various demands from end users. Aqueous zinc ion batterie
 s (AZIBs) provide sustainable routes to grid-scale energy storage because 
 of their cost and safety advantages\, using mild aqueous electrolytes and 
 abundant metallic zinc anodes.\nThe advances in materials discovery and in
 novation in device configuration have improved the performance of AZIBs in
  all aspects\, including durability\, operating voltage range\,\nenergy/po
 wer density\, and economic availability.\nThe recent progress of AZIBs tec
 hnology\, such as facile electrolytemcomponents and additives for aqueous 
 AZIBs will be discussed in this talk.\n\nDr Guanjie He is currently an Ass
 ociate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at University College Lond
 on (UCL). He obtained his PhD from UCL and spent part of his doctoral stud
 ies as a visiting scholar at Yale University. His research focuses on the 
 preparation of novel materials and advanced characterization and simulatio
 n\, particularly their applications in aqueous electrochemical energy stor
 age and conversion.
