r. Dan Lunn\, Fellow in Mathematics at Oxford\, in
vites us to explore the mathematical patterns behi
nd foraging. Drawing examples from the growth of l
eaves\, starfish foraging for prey\, and fungi for
aging for wood on the forest floor\, Dr Lunn will
demonstrate how mathematics can predict the most s
uccessful\, and hence most prevalent\, patterns oc
curing in nature. \n\nBuilding a bridge between th
e realms of biology and mathematics\, this talk pr
esents brand new research that generalises the the
ory to other structures\, such as biofilms. Be amo
