DESCRIPTION:Transposable elements\, small mobile parts of our genomes\, we
re at times considered junk DNA\, selfish DNA or parasitic DNA. Today we k
now that their real effect in our genomes is more nuanced\, and they contr
ibute to shape our genomes in unexpected ways. In my talk I will review th
e history of their research\, their current status in Genomics\, and the o
pen questions that still abound about them. \n
