DESCRIPTION:The aim of the project is to infer a subject's men
tal representation of a set of objects. In order t
o avoid verbal elaboration\, subjects respond only
to simple tasks in which they are presented with
stimuli about which they make a binary choice. Bay
esian inference is used infer their mental represe
ntation of the objects from this impoverished data
. Some task types are much more informative than o
thers\, and the desire for shorter\, cheaper exper
iments motivates the investigation of optimal expe
rimental design\; how can we select the stimulus t
hat will provide us with the most information abou
 t the subject's mental contents?
