DESCRIPTION:Why should we trust a weather forecast\, or a climate projecti
on? Maintaining public and user trust is as critical as accuracy if good f
orecasts are to deliver benefit.\n\nProfessor Penny Endersby\, Chief Execu
tive of the Met Office will talk to us about how weather and climate predi
ctions are produced\, and how new Machine Learning techniques may change t
his in the future. She will also draw on her experience as a director at D
stl Porton Down during the Salisbury Poisonings\, observing the Russian di
sinformation campaign from a position of inside knowledge versus her exper
ience as a lay-person trying to sift through Covid advice during the pande
mic.\n\nIn context of her role as Canon Scientist at Exeter Cathedral\, we
will discuss what this means from for faith communities with our responsi
bilities to our fellow humans and for stewardship of our planet.
