DESCRIPTION:Addressing persistent global health disparities re
 quires prioritizing diverse representation in clin
 ical trials as both a scientific necessity and an
 ethical obligation. Scientifically\, diverse parti
 cipation enables a more comprehensive understandin
 g of how genetic\, environmental\, and socio-econo
 mic factors impact disease progression and treatme
 nt efficacy across populations. Ethically\, it ens
 ures equitable access to the benefits of medical r
 esearch\, particularly for populations historicall
 y marginalized or disproportionately burdened by d
 isease.\n\nThis talk will explore: (1) the multifa
 ctorial drivers of diverse threatening conditions\
 , with case studies in genetic conditions such as
 Crohn’s disease\, Cystic Fibrosis\, sickle cell di
 sease\, and cancer\, as well as infectious disease
 s caused by parasites (e.g.\, Human African Trypan
 osomiasis and malaria)\, viruses\, and bacteria\;
 (2) the consequences of underrepresentation in cli
 nical trials\, including skewed data and ineffecti
 ve or harmful treatments for certain populations\;
  and (3) my faith and pioneering work in public he
 alth\, underpinned by my contributions to evolutio
 nary systems biology and translational research\,
 and how it exemplifies the transformative potentia
 l of inclusive clinical practices and advancing pr
 ecision medicine for all.
