DESCRIPTION:Economics intersects with mental illness in three main ways: t
here are economic causes of mental illness\, economic consequences\, and e
conomic arguments to support change. I will focus mainly on the consequenc
es and arguments\, summarising new evidence on links between youth mental
health and adulthood experiences\, and on the cost-effectiveness of interv
entions. I will then discuss how economic and other evidence can be used t
o support policy discussion and practice change. Moving from evidence to i
 mplementation\, however\, has its challenges.
