DESCRIPTION:How is science produced? How do scientists collabo
rate? Can innovation be nurtured? Can scientific b
reakthroughs be predicted? Quantitative science st
udies is a discipline that examines papers\, colla
 borations\, researchers\, patents\, and scientific
events to address these questions. It designs ind
icators and applies models to analyze these elemen
ts. Initially devised to study science\, some of t
hese methods have since been applied in evaluating
and monitoring scientific activities for effectiv
e management and strategic planning. This talk wil
l provide an overview of the discipline\, explorin
g its key research questions and current progress.
