DESCRIPTION:People with chronic lung diseases such as cystic f
ibrosis and COPD are highly susceptible to bacteri
al infection. Clinically\, these infections are ve
ry difficult to manage and as such many of them re
sult in chronic infections lasting years. Over the
course of these long-term infections\, the bacter
ia diversify and adapt to both the lung environmen
t and the antibiotics used to treat them. I will d
escribe our work using genomics and transcriptomic
s to capture these processes and how they are chan
ging our fundamental understanding of lung infecti
 ons. \n\n
