DESCRIPTION:Abstract:\nAt Monumo we are taking a modern\, AI-driven approa
 ch to solving complex engineering problems. Our focus is the environmental
  challenge and the need for more efficient electric motors and power train
 s\, but our approach is quite general.\nIn this talk I will cover some of 
 the principles behind building a modern framework for engineering simulati
 on. These include designing for large-scale parallelism\, adopting the lat
 est and fastest languages available (notably Julia)\, using the most power
 ful mathematical language available (geometric algebra) and learning from 
 25 years of spectacular development achieved by the games industry.\n \nSp
 eaker Bio:\nDr Chris Doran is AI Research Fellow and Head of 3D at Monumo 
 and also a Fellow of Sidney Sussex College. His background is physics and 
 in 2005 he founded Geomerics\, whose revolutionary lighting technology Enl
 ighten has been used in 100s of video games. Chris has also worked at Arm 
 and been Entrepreneur in Residence for Cambridge enterprise.\n\nPizza will
