SUMMARY:Anti-diffusive phenomena in active matter - Sriram Ramaswamy (Indi
 an Institute of Science)

DESCRIPTION:Active matter is remarkably prone to condensing onto subsets o
 f lower dimension\, ascending concentration gradients without the help of
 interparticle attraction. My talk will present theory\, experiments and si
 mulation of such anti-diffusion and layering in several "dry" and "wet" ac
 tive systems. Interestingly\, these systems have little in common other th
 an activity. The mechanisms underlying condensation\, which I will explain
  in each case\, are novel and diverse.&nbsp\;
