DESCRIPTION:In this talk I will discuss the future prospects for observing
distant supernovae. I will begin with a brief summary of previous superno
va surveys and the use of Type Ia supernovae in cosmology. I will then foc
us on the expected advances enabled by the Time Domain Extragalactic Surve
y (TiDES) which will use the 4MOST instrument to obtain spectra tens of th
ousands of supernovae and host galaxies. I will also describe prospects fo
r supernova science with the Euclid mission\, following the successful lau
 nch of Euclid in July.
