  this important cross-party debate on Science Policy in the UK\, to be cha
 ired by Professor Ian Leslie\, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ca
 mbridge.\n\nScience policy includes not only the funding of the Science an
 d Engineering Base through grants and the stimulation of societal impact t
 hrough Intellectual Property Rights\, but also the purchasing policies of 
 the government and their efforts to influence international standards. Our
  Open Meeting on the evening of Monday 23 November will give attendees the
  opportunity to hear the views of the major political parties on this subj
 ect\, as well as provide a chance to debate the role government should pla
 y to ensure that wealth and job creation happen here in the UK by putting 
 specific questions to the panel. \n\nThe meeting and discussions will be c
 haired by Professor Ian Leslie\, Professor of Computer Science at the Univ
 ersity of Cambridge Computer Laboratory and the University's Pro-Vice-Chan
 cellor for Research since 2004. Debating the issues will be the Government
 's Minister for Science and Innovation\, Lord Drayson\, and Adam Afriyie M
 P (Cons) and Dr Evan Harris MP (Lib Dem). Jonathan Grant\, President of RA
