DESCRIPTION:Matched asymptotic expansions and related techniques will be u
 sed to study the dynamics of complex singularities of solutions to some no
 nlinear pdes. Examples of advection-diffusion\, reaction-diffusion and/dis
 persive equations will be chosen to illustrate the main ideas. The focus w
 ill be on understanding how singularities are born at $t=0^+$ and followin
 g their trajectories for $t>0$\, especially the singularity closest to the
  real axis. Supporting numerical solutions will be presented where possibl
 e.
