DESCRIPTION:Movement ecology is a relatively new interdiscipli
 nary field (attracting engineers\, behaviour/popul
 ation ecologists\, physiologists\, mathematicians\
 , statisticians\, etc.) aimed at describing and un
 derstanding how movement relates to processes that
  scale from individuals to populations. Rapid impr
 ovements in data collection by way of animal-borne
  devices and remote sensing technologies have led
 to substantial volumes of data from oft challengin
 g environments. We discuss three such datasets wit
 h reference to corresponding research questions of
  interest: reproductive tactics of male elephants
 (Loxodona africana) in Africa\; grey seal (Halicho
 erus grypus) behavior in the North Atlantic Ocean\
 ; and the distribution of female northern pike (Es
 ox Lucius) in Hald Lake\, Denmark.&nbsp\;
