DESCRIPTION:A common type of inverse scattering problems involves detectin
 g information about an unknown inhomogeneity by sending incident waves and
  measuring scattered waves in the far-field. However\, in some cases\, a p
 henomenon called non-scattering can occur\, where no scattered waves can b
 e observed from the exterior of the inhomogeneity when probed by an incide
 nt wave. This corresponds to a nontrivial kernel of the far-field operator
 . In this talk\, I will present recent work on the necessary conditions fo
 r the existence of non-scattering waves for certain inhomogeneities.
