DESCRIPTION:We theoretically investigate the interaction between an array 
 of sub-wavelength pillars on a substrate or a plate. FEM simulations allow
 s to calculate the resonant modes of a finite chain of N pillars with line
 ar\, bent or random distributions and demonstrate the propagation along th
 e chain. Then\, using a mass-spring model of pillars on a plate\, the prop
 agation and confinement of 2D elastic waves are studied analytically by mu
 ltiple scattering method. Some preliminary experimental results will illus
 trate the presentation.\n&nbsp\;
