DESCRIPTION:The lecture includes modelling of waves in elastic chiral chai
 ns\, consisting of gyro-pendulums. For simple examples\, the combined effe
 ct of gravity and of the gyroscopic force is shown in a closed analytical 
 form. When a large periodic cluster of gyro-pendulums\, connected by elast
 ic strings\, is analysed\, the coupling between the longitudinal and trans
 verse displacements becomes important. Dispersion properties of waves in p
 eriodic chiral waveguides subjected to gravity are discussed in detail. Gr
 een&rsquo\;s kernels are derived and studied for different regimes of the 
 time-harmonic forcing. Illustrative numerical simulations are also provide
 d.\nThe lecture is based on the results of the joint work with A. Kandiah\
 , I.S. Jones and A.B. Movchan.
