DESCRIPTION:We consider the inverse problem for the quantitative reconstru
 ction of physical parameters in visco-acoustic media\;\nfor instance the r
 ecovery of tissue features and identification of embedded bodies.\nVisco-a
 coustic attenuation is encoded thereby in wave equations.\nThere exists a 
 zoo of attenuation models in the literature\, which are reviewed in the co
 urse of this talk.\nFinally\, we review inverse problems of reconstruction
  of parameters in visco-acoustic media.\nParticular emphasis will be given
  to study a mismatch of models used in forward and inverse simulations.\nI
 f time allows\, we will also review results on finite dimensional approxim
 ation of variational regularization methods.&nbsp\;\nThis is joint work wi
