 computing is an emerging new technology which prom
 ises to completely change computing as we know it.
  In particular\, the advent of quantum computers p
 oses a serious threat to cybersecurity. Encryption
  methods hailed as ‘unbreakable’ by classical comp
 uters can be cracked by quantum computers in a mat
 ter of hours. In this talk\, we will discuss the b
 asics of quantum computing and how it could be use
 d to attack common encryption algorithms. We also 
 introduce and evaluate the top candidates to repla
 ce our current encryption methods for a post-quant

 uantum computing applications for over a year\, sp
 ecializing in quantum circuit architectures in mac
 hine learning. Joining him is recent Cambridge gra
 duate Vasundhara Prasad\, who has previously worke
 d on financial uses of gate-based quantum computin
 g and is now working on other quantum computing ap
