 tons play important role in various applications.&nbsp\; In this talk I wi
 ll intoduce basic generic model governing optical pulse propagation in a n
 onlinear dispersive amplifying medium with asymmetric gain. The key proper
 ties of the model and the results of numerical modeling will be discussed.
 &nbsp\; In a quasi-classical limit some solutions of the introduced model 
 can be described by the simplified system of equations that is a modificat
 ion of the well-known one-dimensional shallow water equations.&nbsp\; &nbs
 p\;Our theory and numerical simulations provide insight into the nature of
  stable asymmetric pulse capable to accumulate large nonlinear phase witho
 ut wave-breaking beyond the paabolic pulse approximation.
