DESCRIPTION:We propose a method for measuring quantum and thermal fluctuat
 ions of fermionic atoms in an optical lattice from the intensity of the sc
 attered light in the far-field diffraction pattern. Our calculations show 
 that\ncorrelations of the fermionic atoms generate fluctuations in the int
 ensity of the diffraction\npattern of light scattered from the atomic latt
 ice array. We also address some of our other recent work on ultra-cold ato
 m physics.\n
