DESCRIPTION:Inflammation is strongly associated with mental health disorde
rs\, especially depression. However\, questions remain about the causal na
ture of this relationship. Here I will discuss what a causal model of infl
amed depression might encompass and I will review selected recent evidence
for causality from longitudinal\, neuroimaging and epigenetic studies\, a
nd from meta-analysis of treatment trials of anti-inflammatory drugs.
