 s cotangent bundle to that of the universal elliptic curve over it.&nbsp\;
  I&rsquo\;ll explain a perspective that yields a description of &nbsp\;dua
 lizing sheaves for integral models in certain situations of bad reduction.
 &nbsp\; The resulting Kodaira-Spencer isomorphism generalizes (at least) t
 o the setting of Hilbert modular varieties\, with applications to the cons
 truction and integrality properties of Hecke operators.
