DESCRIPTION:A famous conjecture in complex geometry predicts t
hat the \nexistence of Kaehler metrics with specia
 l curvature properties on a \nprojective manifold
can be characterized by an algebro-geometric \nsta
bility notion\, K-stability. In this talk\, we gen
eralize this picture \nby taking into account the
additional data of a first order deformation \nof
the manifold\, which plays the role of a Higgs fie
ld for the category \nof Kaehler manifolds. We wil
l then prove a version of the appropriately \ngene
ralized stability conjecture in the context of tor
 ic manifolds.
