DESCRIPTION:It is well known that the phase space empirical me
asure of a N-particle system couples via a binary
potential\nand evolving according to Newton's seco
nd law of motion is a weak solution of the Vlasov
 equation for the\nmean-field\, self-consistent pot
ential. The purpose of this talk is (1) to define
a quantum analogue of the notion\nof phase space e
mpirical measure\, (2) to study the equation gover
ning its evolution\, and (3) to use it to prove\nt
he mean-field limit for a system of N quantum part
icles with a convergence rate which is independent
of the\nPlanck constant. (Work in collaboration w
 ith T. Paul)
