DESCRIPTION:The Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) provides a p
owerful framework for capturing the indirect effects of heavy new physics
on observables measured at the LHC. I will present a global fit to the SME
FT\, combining data from the Higgs\, top\, diboson and electroweak sectors
and demonstrating their interplay in constraining the Wilson coefficients
of the SMEFT. Confidence in our theoretical inputs is crucial in such a g
lobal fit. This is particularly true of the parton distribution functions
(PDFs)\, which are determined from experimental data assuming the validity
of the Standard Model\, often using exactly the same processes that enter
SMEFT analyses. I will present a study of the interplay of PDFs and the S
MEFT in the high-mass tails of Drell-Yan distributions\, quantifying the i
mpact of a consistent joint determination of the PDFs and SMEFT Wilson coe
 fficients.
