 bdu'l-Bahá\, the Cambridge University Bahá'í Socie
 ty has arranged online talks by eight internationa
 l speakers. Each speaker will focus on one theme b
 ased on the teachings and life of this unique indi
 vidual and its relevance to our world today. This 
 is the sixth talk in the series._\n\n*From "What? 
 A Woman?" to "What a Woman!" The Role of 'Abdu'l-B
 ahá in the Advancement of Women*\n\n'Abdu'l-Bahá s
 tated that gender equality was not simply righting
  historical social injustices against women\, but 
 the advancement of women would serve as a key fact
 or in wide-ranging societal changes that would hel
 p develop a new civilization.\n\nWendi Momen is a 
 social activist and advocate\, focusing on a clust
 er of issues that promote social justice: the adva
 ncement of women\, poverty eradication\, health\, 
 criminal justice\, interfaith harmony\, housing\, 
 the environment and business ethics. She is chair 
 of Trustees of the National Alliance of Women’s Or
 ganisations\, a Trustee and secretary of Widows Ri
 ghts International\, and Executive Board member of
  the UK Civil Society Women’s Alliance. She holds 
 a PhD in International Relations from the London S
 chool of Economics\, where she is a Governor.\n\nT
